Sichuan — the next chapter on the Tibetan plateau (in development)

Sichuan is the next major region being built into WR Journeys. Western Sichuan appears connected on a map, but Kangding, Danba and Yading are shaped by altitude, road conditions and season; transfers cannot be planned like journeys between lowland cities. Songtsam already provides a mature lodge network in parts of the region, while we continue to verify additional local partners.

May and June suit alpine flowers, and September to October usually bring the most dependable autumn colour. Summer requires rain buffers; winter needs careful checks on roads, warmth and seasonal closures. First-time plateau travellers are better served by a gradual ascent and at least one adaptation night than by chasing consecutive landmarks.

Public standard routes are still being prepared, but a real advisor can already design a bespoke journey around fitness, available time, photography or family needs. We distinguish what has been directly checked, what comes from trusted partners and what still requires confirmation. AI speeds research and coordination; the final trade-offs and responsibility for the journey remain human.
