Transfer to Changsha South Station for the high-speed rail to Zhangjiajie West (~2.5 hrs), with scenic views of Hunan's rolling hill country. Full day in the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (UNESCO World Heritage core zone) with a private English-speaking guide. The day Zhangjiajie was made for. Morning in Yuanjiajie Scenic Area: stand before the Avatar Hallelujah Mountain (the pillar that became a floating mountain in the film); cross the First Bridge Under Heaven (a natural rock arch over a deep gorge); descend by the Hundred Dragon Elevator — the world's tallest outdoor glass elevator, a vertiginous 2-minute ride down 326 metres of sheer cliff. Afternoon cable car up Tianzi Mountain for the park's single most expansive panorama — a sea of stone pillars stretching to the horizon under shifting cloud. Drive ~40 minutes to Zhangjiajie city. Board the world's longest cable car (7,455m, ~30 minutes) rising through cloud layers to the summit of Tianmen Mountain — the ride itself is an attraction. Walk the Glass Skywalk, a transparent walkway cantilevered from the cliff face at 1,400m altitude (bring your nerve). Visit Tianmen Cave (Heaven's Gate) — a 130m-high natural arch in the mountain; climb the 999 steps or take the escalator to stand beneath the arch and peer through at open sky. Return to Wulingyuan; farewell Tujia ethnic dinner before tomorrow's departure.

Optional morning stop at a Tujia minority cultural village en route. Fenghuang Dawn → High-Speed Rail → Singapore
A sunrise walk along the Tuojiang is highly recommended — mist rising off the water, women washing clothes at the stone steps, the town slowly waking to birdsong. Morning market browse for ginger candy and Miao cured specialities. Transfer to Huaihua South Station or Jishou for the high-speed rail back to Changsha (~2.5 hrs). Connect to Changsha Huanghua Airport for your evening flight home to Singapore. The journey ends; the memory of floating mountains and lantern-lit water does not.

Singapore (SIN) → Changsha Huanghua (CSX). Direct ~5 hrs via Scoot or China Southern. Multiple daily departures. Book 2–3 months ahead for October — prices rise sharply closer to the date.
📅 Best Travel Window
October 9–26 (post-Golden Week). Temperatures 18–25°C, low humidity, clear skies with morning mist (which enhances Zhangjiajie dramatically). Crowds drop sharply after Oct 7. Avoid Oct 1–7 entirely.
📋 Visa
Most Western passport holders require a Chinese tourist visa (L visa). Singapore residents apply through the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre — typically 4–5 business days. Several EU nationalities now enjoy 15-day visa-free entry; verify current policy for your specific passport.
📱 Connectivity
Purchase a China mainland SIM card on arrival. WhatsApp, Google, and Instagram require a VPN — configure yours before departure, as apps cannot be downloaded inside China. Alipay / WeChat Pay are ubiquitous; carry some cash RMB for small vendors in Fenghuang.
